ALEX : Light

Alex Noiret / Natural Light Editorial / Ben Sasso

In most aspects of life, I’d say it’s probably best to stay away from whatever scares you but art’s a bit different. As a photographer, hard light kinda scares me. As an introvert, connection scares me and excites me. This set is me trying to make sense of both. Trying to make friends with my monsters.

tip:

If you're shooting hard spotty light (or anything even if you aren't), a general rule when shooting digital is to meter for the brightest thing you want to keep texture in (in this case, the light spots) and underexpose that slightly. If you accidentally overexpose something, that detail will be lost forever. In the most general sense, it's typically safe to underexpose on digital and it's typically safe to overexpose film.

Wow!! Yes, always inspirational for sure! May I ask what was your biggest takeaways from this session? I can totally relate to both hard light and close connection being scary, I’d love to hear more about your thoughts on this after this session!!
