Love every bit of it. But one thing makes me stop and think. “Creativity over popularity”. Can’t you afford that once you’ve been popular?

    • Magda,Thanks! I think it’s all relative. These shoots (I have another in this series), are by far my least popular things I’ve put out but their also the ones that make me feel the most creatively happy.

I was just wondering, for all of your personal work do you hire models or do you have a lot of ridiculously good looking friends?

These are incredible!!! But i’m with MagDA, the last part of her/his question. Dont you think you shooting what was popular has allowed you to shoot what isnt? You’ve proven yourself but what if you came out of the gates shooting stuff like this. Do you think you’d have to the time to shoot what you love over what others loved?

    • Thanks Jessica! It depends on your goals I suppose. If your goal with photography is creative fulfillment, then it shouldn’t matter at all what others love. If your goal is income, then it does matter. If your goal is both, you’ll need to find the balance. Either way, there’s a difference between popularity, and making a living. If you want to be popular, you’ll likely be shooting the mainstream look, while if you don’t care about that you’d probably stick with whatever truly excites you (and you’d likely still make a great living at that too).

I Love this so much. And like Emil said, this is something I needed to see this week. I’ve been told so often lately about the perfection and the technically right photograph but I don’t see the world in perfection and technically right
