Miriam and Eduardo : Canary Islands

It’s always such a flattering thing to be asked to speak at workshops and conferences! This set was shoot during a shoot I led at the Wolves Workshop out on La Graciosa. I honestly can’t say enough about how rad this one was. It’s a blast, full of education, and it’s run by a killer group of people.

tip:

Hey Photographers! Here's some homework for your next shoot: Commit to shooting at a slow shutter speed (1/40th or slower) for 5 minutes on your next shoot. Shoot something moving and let it blur! Easy peasy. Try something new. Make your brain bigger.

Beautiful series Ben. Love the movement you’ve captured in her dress and hair. What sort of shutter speeds were you managing to shoot at?

Stunning job as usual ben! on the 5th image her face looks a bit distorded due to the use of the 35mm (i guess) close and subject not centered, and on the 8th image her dress blends with the background which is a bit distracting. the colours, expression and motion blur are incredible, killer job!

That’s a great piece of advice. These shots have a dream like quality. their skin looks so creamy. Any tips there?

    • Thanks Derryn! Great skin tones start with great light. For me, that means clean (free of any color casts reflecting off of their surroundings, like green trees, pink walls, etc), and even (soft, and non-directional which keeps shadows, etc to a minimum).
