Preston and Alexi : California Coast

YES. Preston and Alexi will rock the socks right off of your feet. They are both so full of life and love. I’ve worked with Preston a few times over the years and it meant a ton to me to be able to shoot this session for him and his fiancee at Leo Carrillo State Beach (one of my favorite coastal spots). Thanks, you two. So excited for you both!

tip:

To create that hazy golden light, I love having the sun just barely peaking out from behind something (like the cliffs) or having it just barely out of frame. That, combined with the ocean mist creates a soft golden wash that comes into the frame. To enhance it even more, you can use a brush in Lightroom to paint some more warmth into it!

I absolutely love how natural this all looks. You captured the couple so perfectly by them being themselves without any formal, regular, expected poses. I love how truly authentic all of these are. Awesome job ben!

hey! Did you use a. 35mm? And where do you meter from? (I know you have an exposure class but just wondering- its just all so dreamy and creamy! And so so good), the cheek area of the face? Mode? Spot? Its just so good! Still working on convincing someone- hopefully by the end if the week if it isnt booked 🙂

    • Joanna, hi! I did use a 35L for a ton of these. I spot meter for them and make sure that the brightest part of their face (usually the cheek or forehead) is underexposed just a tad.
