I’ve had a ton of things in the blogging schedule over the past few months so it’s taken me a while to get this one up here! This shoot was born out of a need to simplify. In the past I’ve talked a lot about creative ruts and the importance in stepping outside of your normal. If you know much about my work you know that it revolves around a few major themes (all of which I love) like nature, golden natural light, particular styling, and intimacy. These images fall pretty far out of those but it’s exactly the creative kick I needed in a time of sluggish movement. This shoot allowed me to strip down the complications like styling, environment, color, and a few others in order to focus solely on the heart of the image, the subject. The human connection is always what I hope to have shining through the actual design of the image so in the midst of a creative rut I decided to leave the design out to renew my inspiration for what really matters.
I always look forward to your posts. Love the reminder to “keep it simple”…and of course I always enjoy the beautiful images.
I love everything about this!
Ben i just love these, the different angles and twists are so rad and the color stripped away. great idea to try something different every now and then:)
Hey Ben! what camera and lens did you use for this shoot?
hi ben! How do you format your photos and photo collages for blog postings? Thanks in advance! š
Love these. Beautiful compositions!!!
IāM IN LOVE. This is so wonderful.
Ben, i absolutely love this concept. this just reaffirmed why i am taking your workshop in NY this july. Can’t wait.
Wonderful!
beautiful. so natural & adorable. love these <3
Swoon! I just love the simplicity. And question….on that 3rd image, are you shooting through something to create that small space of haze? I love the effect.
Sammieb, Thank you! I was shooting through a little piece of translucent plastic.
Ben, these are insanely amazing. As always. But, wow.
This is just amazing, Ben! Every shot had me impressed.
So simple and beautiful, so inspiring! I love these!
Man, I would love to see a quote next to each image that says what you were talking about in that moment! What do you tell your models to get such variety of expressions?? Incredible!
found your tutorial through the Fstoppers blog and it was hands down one of the best freebies I’ve ever read! So grateful for your willingness to share and teach! Question on this series…what was your lighting? Natural? Studio? Love the feel so much!
Thank you, Mary! This was all natural light. Diffused window light coming from her left side and I believe a large reflector on her right to even it out!
wow. nice pictures… simplicity works always if u knowhow to frame it.
she s a gorgeus girl too š
