Melissa and Josh : Intimate Session

Well hello there! I’ll be brief and let you dig in. Melissa and Josh celebrated their 1 year anniversary with this little intimate, in-home session at their new place in Portland. We hung out, listened to some music, and I tied them in as many knots as I could.

Edited with my Heck Yeah Presets (Bright 3)!

tip:

One of the things I feel most proud of for this set is something so simple that I feel silly for even feeling proud of it: I took advantage of arms. Humans come with built in framing devices and for this set I really wanted to incorporate them into the composition of the frame more than I usually do. It's easy to just have a couple leave their arms at their sides or wrapped around each other, but hands and arms are perfect tools for composition that I want to start taking more advantage of. Here's my first step!

    • Thanks Nitin! I edited these with my Heck Yeah Presets (bright 3). Most of the work for getting these tones comes in from the soft, even light and the minimal colors in the image. I have a free lighting class ( lighting.bensasso.com ) that will help you nail that look!

So true about using hands to frame Ben! This has definitely been a focus for me to work into poses more. Definitely gives that candid lost-in-the-moment play-wrestling kinda feel aha. Thanks so much for sharing!
