But one thing makes me stop and think. “Creativity over popularity”. Can’t you afford that once you’ve been popular? Ben Sasso November 29, 2016 Magda,Thanks! I think it’s all relative. These shoots (I have another in this series), are by far my least popular things I’ve put out but their also the ones that make me feel the most creatively happy. But i’m with MagDA, the last part of her/his question. Dont you think you shooting what was popular has allowed you to shoot what isnt? You’ve proven yourself but what if you came out of the gates shooting stuff like this. Do you think you’d have to the time to shoot what you love over what others loved? Ben Sasso July 18, 2018 Thanks Jessica! It depends on your goals I suppose. If your goal with photography is creative fulfillment, then it shouldn’t matter at all what others love. If your goal is income, then it does matter. If your goal is both, you’ll need to find the balance. Either way, there’s a difference between popularity, and making a living. If you want to be popular, you’ll likely be shooting the mainstream look, while if you don’t care about that you’d probably stick with whatever truly excites you (and you’d likely still make a great living at that too). leave a comment Take me back Onward back to posts Want new posts and tips sent straight to your email? yep!
